What is a Bengal Cat ? _

Bengal cats are natures awe. Bengal cats are hybrid cats and come as a result of a cross between the Domestic cat and the Asian Leopard (Prionailurus Bengalensis), which is a small wild cat found in the region of Bengal in Asia. This breeding was awesome: a little wild look Asian leopard and the sweet disposition of the domestic cat. It was based on these two traits that the name Wild and Sweet Bengals was chosen as the cattery name. Below contains information on the Bengal cat breed.

his crossbreed was created in 1963 by Jean S. Mill. The first hybrids F1 was born from this crossing, later came F2 (second generation), semi-wild cats, and after the 4th and the 5th generations, the Bengal cats were then referred to as domestic. In our programs we do the productions of the 7th and 8th generations after the Asian leopard, this allows us to create kittens having great affection and well behaved.

It took over some years for the International Cat Association (TICA) to recognize the Bengals cat breed and only in 1985 was Jean S. Mill able to take part in her first.

One of the most noticeable things about the Bengal cat is its beauty. It has beautiful fur that portrays that of its ancestors. It has rosettes which are spots that can be seen everywhere on its body which gives it an amazing appearance. Its fur is smooth, silky, and soft and enjoyable to pet. Glittering gold dust shiny looking veils could be seen on its body.

During the periods of 3-4 weeks, the Bengal cat goes through a period of fuzzy fur making and less contrast which may last for a period of 3-5 months. This trait is a heritage from the Asian leopard which enables it to hide younger ones from its predators. Importantly; the Bengal cat breed is not hypoallergenic despite the claims of many. The picture below shows an example of a fuzzy baby cheetah.

The Bengal cat contains two different patterns which could be spotted and rosette, and marble. To add the are in a wide range of colors, many are wonderful and some even imitate the snow leopard, the black panther, and the traditional leopard.
